Bookings

A calendaring service through Office 365 that allows users to create a calendar that can be shared with coworkers and customers and be used to schedule appointments. Faculty and staff must request access to Bookings through the ITS Help Desk.

ICON/Canvas

ICON (Iowa Courses Online) is the learning management system at the University of Iowa and is primarily powered by Canvas. With ICON, instructors can create, edit, and deliver online learning resources for their courses. ICON requires a sign-on to access services.

Teams

Microsoft Teams is a service available on Office 365 that features real-time persistent chat conversations, audio/video calls and meetings, secure document storage, project planning tools and collaboration with others at the University of Iowa and external guests. All members of a Team have Edit permissions to team files. Teams does not support using Active Directory groups to control access. Teams requires a sign-on to access services.

OneNote

Microsoft 365 OneNote is an online note-taking app that provides one space to organize and write notes, research, or relevant academic information. OneNote can be used in Office 365 and can be integrated into ICON courses. It is available to all faculty, staff, and students and requires a sign-on to access services.

Pressbooks

Pressbooks is a book writing software that lets you create a book in all the formats you need to publish, including course material or an Open Educational Resources. Pressbooks delivers print-ready PDF files and ebook files optimized to look great on mobile devices. Faculty, staff, and students must request a Pressbooks site. Pressbooks requires a sign-on access to access editing services.

SharePoint

SharePoint Online is a file storage and collaboration service on Office 365 that offers secure file storage, real-time Office document collaboration, file-level access/permissions options, and various business and project management tools. Sites can be shared with others at the University of Iowa and external guests. SharePoint requires sign-in and supports using Active Directory groups to control access.

SiteNow

The SiteNow service provides a low code/no code public website building platform based on the Drupal open-source content management system. This solution includes on-brand webpage building, webform functionality, hosting, and support. Faculty and staff must request access to a SiteNow site.

Visio

Microsoft Visio is a diagramming and vector graphics application. A no fee version is available for faculty and staff through Office 365, which requires a sign-on to access services.

Workflow

Workflow enables electronic routing and approval of forms, documents, and other data. Routes can be built using people roles, position numbers, departments, and organizations in any order. Typically, this service is free for faculty and staff; see resource links for exceptions.
