Change to the Wiki (Confluence)

On Monday, Jan. 8, 2024, the University of Iowa Wiki hosted at wiki.uiowa.edu was shut down permanently.

If you were a former Wiki user who needs content off the Wiki previously hosted on wiki.uiowa.edu, you have three options:

  1. Have OTLT migrate your content to SharePoint before Monday, July 1, 2024.
  2. Purchase a Confluence (Wiki) license from University of Iowa ITS and have OTLT migrate your content to Confluence Cloud before Monday, July 1, 2024. To determine what you had and the cost, visit the Wiki Space and User Inventory page.
  3. Have OTLT export your Wiki content to a PDF or HTML file by Jan. 1, 2026.

To find out more about these options and answers to your questions, please visit the Wiki Service Change Options and FAQ page.

What is Wiki?

The Wiki service offers a collaborative workspace for a variety of purposes, including departmental and instructional use. The Wiki is a web-based tool for collaboration and discussion. Popular uses include team notes or documentation, information sharing, or collaboration with classmates and external researchers. Features of the Wiki include threaded discussion, embedded media, revision history, and seamless integration with the ICON Dashboard. Wiki spaces are not to be used for critical or restricted data.

Instructions on alternative spaces using University of Iowa services can be found on our Wiki Alternatives page.

Get started with Wiki

Wiki spaces are available for course instruction and departmental or organizational uses by purchasing a license. To purchase a Conflenuce Cloud license, we ask that you fill-out this Workflow form with your relevant information. Licenses for Confluence (Wiki) will cost $44 per user per year. An MFK is required to complete payment.
