The ICON Course Wizard recently attracted attention at 2026 InstructureCon, the annual conference from our learning management system vendor. The ICON Course Wizard was featured by the keynote, and more than 300 individuals from higher education institutions across the country attended a live demonstration of the tool.
Developed by OTLT and AIS, the ICON Course Wizard guides instructors through setting up a new course using an accessible template. With just a click on the "ICON Course Wizard" button in the right-hand navigation bar, instructors can start building an accessible ICON site. Once an instructor adds their course title, syllabus, and description, instructors can easily customize the template by adding or removing components to fit their teaching.
Lauren Andrews, Emily McKeag, and Jesse Nicholson also received numerous inquiries about the tool. The response to the wizard and template highlights Iowa’s efforts to support teaching and learning and the growing interest in accessible tools that help instructors streamline course setup and enhance student learning.
