Victoria Maloy

Associate Director, Academic Technologies
Biography

As the associate director of OTLT Academic Technologies, Victoria manages the Academic Technologies team and provides consultation to support enterprise-wide instructional technologies, such as ICON, Top Hat, Gradescope, and Pressbooks.

Victoria is skilled at making technology accessible and approachable through inclusive community building, training programs, and human-centered design. Her notable achievements include the launching of an inclusive access textbook program, ICON Direct, which has saved University of Iowa students $7M collectively on required course materials. Victoria excels at relationship building, exemplified by uniting bookstore, IT, and library staff for the inclusive access initiative and co-chairing the Course Materials Advisory Committee.

Currently, she focuses on promoting accessible academic technology, DEI initiatives, and open educational resources. She is also working to educate the campus community about AI and its implications for higher education.

Victoria offers expertise in implementing academic technology programs that drive student engagement and success. She recently organized the ICON Day conference focused on educational technologies, with 150 registrants, a keynote on Universal Design for Learning principles, and a student nominated ICON All Star award for faculty who use ICON to provide accessible, engaging, and impactful learning environment. 

Before joining ITS, she was a librarian at Mount Mercy University for 10 years.
