As part of the university’s commitment to digital accessibility, the Office of Teaching, Learning, and Technology now offers Equatio to faculty, staff, and students to support accessible math learning wherever they are.
Equatio is a digital math tool that offers multiple input methods, making it easier for users to engage with math equations in multiple formats. It’s available in a desktop app for Windows or Mac as well as a Chrome browser plugin.
Equatio enhances math and science learning by:
- Creating and exploring math equations: Equatio offers multiple methods to manipulate and modify math, including speech-to-text input, a built-in equation editor, handwriting recognition, LaTeX editing tools, and some prediction models.
- Visualizing and exploring concepts: Equatio has a whiteboard feature that can be shared with other users, a graphing calculator, a scientific calculator, a periodic table, and 3D models of chemical formulae.
- Increasing accessibility: Equatio can help instructors, staff, and students make math more accessible, using the built-in screenshot reader, alternative text for equations, and browser plugins for mobile devices.
