OTLT Learning Spaces Technology, in partnership with Enterprise Infrastructure and Enterprise Services, is implementing a new service model to enhance support for classroom and meeting room technology and expand the university’s capacity for A/V projects.
As part of this transition, Anne Schimke and Bryan Cooling will move to Enterprise Infrastructure Physical Infrastructure, joining the existing A/V installation and design teams, effective Monday, April 13. Their offices will move to the Information Technology Distribution Center in August.
This shift coincides with improvements to the Information Technology Distribution Center (ITDC), allowing the A/V staff to operate out of an updated facility with dedicated workspace for equipment receiving, repair, and configuration. We expect this change to reduce the time classrooms must be taken offline for equipment changes and to allow for streamlined, efficient equipment procurement and management.
Where should I direct support questions or requests for new A/V projects?
There will be no changes to how support incidents or new service requests are initiated.
Continue to direct classroom and meeting room technology support requests to the ITS Help Desk and neighborhood Extended Technology Support staff. For new classroom or meeting room technology projects, continue to email ITS-ITconnect@uiowa.edu.
What services will Learning Spaces Technology lead and manage?
LST is the service owner for 13 services, including classroom technology, meeting room technologies, and ITC computer labs, and is the primary contact for campus partners for needs related to these services.
Drew Riggs will continue his role in Learning Spaces Technology and will be joined by two additional staff members in May or June, pending a current hiring process. LST will focus on ensuring their services align with campus needs, coordinating intentional change management initiatives, and continuing to be responsive to customers.
