The Innovations in Teaching with Technology Awards (ITTA) provide funding for instructional technology projects that raise the level of teaching and learning at Iowa and have the potential to impact student success and retention.

The University of Iowa Academic Technologies Advisory Council (ATAC) will accept proposals from Wednesday, Sept. 10, through Monday, Oct. 13.

We seek projects that employ collaborative learning strategies and student use of emerging technologies for teaching and learning. Priority will be given to projects that, if proven successful, can be replicated throughout the university. Cross-disciplinary projects are encouraged but not required.

A total of $100,000 is available for awards. The number of awards will be determined by the quality of the applications. A single award or multiple awards may be made. Applications can be made to support the costs of hardware, software, and personnel. Funding is not available to support faculty salaries.

Since 2001, ATAC has awarded over $1.8 million to instructors.

Want to learn more about ITTA?

On Sept. 23 and Sept. 30, we’ll host informative sessions designed to help instructors begin ITTA proposals. Attendees will:

  • Gain insights from a short presentation featuring previous successful ITTA projects.
  • Receive a detailed walkthrough of the submission form, including the questions and how to effectively address them.
  • Learn strategies for writing strong grant proposals that stand out.

Register for one of the ITTA informational sessions.

If you are interested in applying, please review the proposal guidelines. We encourage you to email the Office of Teaching, Learning, and Technology at its-otlt@uiowa.edu with questions.

If you've been experimenting with innovative teaching approaches that involve technology, we encourage you to submit your proposal by Monday, Oct. 13.
