Azure Virtual Desktop (AVD) is a new service available to pilot in university TILE classrooms for the fall 2024 semester. It allows students and faculty to access needed software from their own devices, even if their personal devices don’t meet the compute requirements. Some of the highlights of the service include:

  • Provides consistent, anywhere access to classroom software, from any device
  • Allows for the use of OneDrive for ease of file access and management
  • Meets security requirements to protect university and personal assets
  • Offers future possibility of customizable virtual machines for degree or course programs

These features let you focus on teaching and learning and not on maintaining or managing the classroom computer environment.

Please reach out to the ITS Help Desk if you would like to participate or have feedback regarding this exciting pilot project.
