Sara Nasrollahian Mojarad joined the Center for Teaching in 2019 as an assistant director. Sara directs the Course Design Institute, an annual program for faculty interested in learning how to (re)design their courses. In 2020, she launched Cornerstones for Course Design, a webinar series held each semester for faculty who wish to refresh their knowledge of course design and learn strategies to develop inclusive and flexible courses. She also directs the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning (SoTL) program, which aims to engages systemic and purposeful inquiry into students’ learning in order to improve teaching.
In addition, she supports faculty through one-on-one consultations and pedagogical workshops. She is a member of the University of Iowa Provost’s Task Force on First-Generation College Students, the First-Year Seminar Advisory Board, and the Path Forward Student Success Work Group.
Her interests include SoTL, inclusive pedagogy, learning assessment strategies, course design, and transparency in teaching and learning.
Before joining the Center for Teaching, Sara worked as a graduate research assistant at the University of Tennessee in the Teaching and Learning Innovation Unit.
