A Different Kind of Teaching and Learning Support

Student Instructional Technology Assistants (SITA) can help you successfully integrate learning technology into your course.

  • Get the most out of your ICON course site
  • Integrate clickers into your classroom
  • Design and implement individual and collaborative wiki spaces
  • Use multimedia tools to engage students

Who We Are

SITAs are select graduate and undergraduate students who work with faculty, instructors, and teaching assistants to enhance classroom teaching and learning through purposeful integration of various technologies and teaching practices.

  • We provide a combination of consulting, training and production assistance.
  • In many cases, we can take care of "start-up" development for our faculty/staff clients, pilot solutions and hand off developed projects to full-time staff.
  • We focus exclusively on projects and training of faculty/staff that will support student learning.
  • SITAs are currently-enrolled UI students, so we provide a unique 'student' perspective on technology and its use in the classroom.

We like to say, "We are in the solutions business." How do we accomplish our goals?

  • Meet with instructors to listen, plan and implement learning technology projects for a specific course
  • Build lasting relationships with instructors based on providing authentic and meaningful interactions
  • Guide instructors toward other useful resources within OTLT and ITS as well as other campus units that support student success through enhanced teaching and learning practices.
  • Share teaching and technology information from other departments/instructors' experiences
