Please join us in welcoming five new staff members to the Office of Teaching, Learning & Technology (OTLT).

Alex Adcock

Alex is an instructional technology consultant working with Zoom, Confluence, Respondus, and UICapture (Panopto). He has a Master of Science in library and information science from the University of Illinois – Urbana-Champaign. Before OTLT, Alex worked in the Instructional Technology and Design department at the University of Illinois School of Library and Information Science as a graduate assistant. He also previously worked at a park district and at a public high school in Champaign, Illinois.

Kirk Batterson

Kirk is a senior IT support consultant for Learning Spaces Technology (LST). He leads the support team in providing the university with classroom service support, end user consultation and training, documentation, and public web content. Kirk has been working for the university in a technology support role for more than 10 years. Before joining LST, Kirk was a senior IT support consultant for Enterprise Instructional Technology, supporting ICON and digital media. Kirk has a Bachelor of Arts in cinema and comparative literature from the University of Iowa.

Emily McKeag

Emily is an instructional technology consultant and currently works with her team supporting student response systems (clickers), Peerceptiv, Top Hat, ICON Direct, and ACE. Prior to joining OTLT, Emily worked in Health Care Information Systems on the deployment team, installing software on new computers and installing new machines for faculty and staff located across the main hospital campus and the Carver College of Medicine. She graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in English from the University of Iowa.

Jesse Nicholson

Jesse is an instructional technology consultant working with technology services such as Kaltura and ICON. He has a Bachelor of Arts in management information systems from the University of Northern Iowa. Prior to joining OTLT, he was employed at University of Iowa Hospitals & Clinics as an IT support consultant for the deployment team. He has many years of customer service experience on the hardware and software sides of technology.

John Gikonyo

John is an IT support consultant coming with experience in many areas of information technology application. John has worked in higher education with the Student Instructional Technology Assistants (SITA) program and Enterprise Instructional Technology (EIT) services at the University of Iowa. Prior to rejoining EIT, John served as an application developer for the Molecular Epidemiology Research and Education Program in the UI College of Public Health. John holds a Master of Science in agricultural engineering from the University of Nairobi and a Master of Science in health informatics from the University of Iowa.
