After the spring term wraps up, there will be a few changes to some popular instructional technologies. For more information about each service, click on the individual titles.

Zoom Integration:

Coming this summer, ICON will have a more robust integration with Zoom. Instructors will be able to schedule and join Zoom meetings from the course navigation menu in ICON, as well as display upcoming and previous Zoom meetings in the ICON calendar.

ACE:

It’s time to prepare for student evaluations. ACE evaluations for 16-week courses open Sunday, April 21. No changes can be made to evaluations once the evaluation period has started.

Top Hat:

Top Hat is a clicker platform and more. It provides a lecture tool that displays questions, manages classroom discussions, and has attendance capabilities. It also features a textbook platform where instructors can adopt, customize, or create content for their courses. All clickers will transition to Top Hat by summer 2019.

Kaltura:

Kaltura, a new online digital media platform that stores, publishes, and streams media, will be available in late spring 2019. Kaltura will replace ShareStream, which will retire in June 2019.

New Gradebook in ICON:

A new gradebook, which offers several new features as well as enhancements to existing ones, is now available for ICON courses. New features include:

  • The grade detail tray which provides a quick way to view and enter grades, submission statuses, comments, and more.
  • Late polices allow instructors to set up grading rules for late and missing submissions.

Instructors can try the new gradebook now:

  1. Navigate to course settings
  2. Click on the Feature Options tab
  3. Click the toggle button next to New Gradebook

ICON will switch to the new gradebook for all courses on May 16, 2019. Instructors can switch between the current and new gradebook by toggling this setting. If instructors define a late policy or manually adjust labels in the grade details tray in the new gradebook, they will no longer be able to return to the current gradebook.
