At the end of the spring 2017 semester, the Blackboard Collaborate integration with ICON will discontinue and be replaced with Zoom. Zoom is an application that will allow users to host and attend meetings and webinars.
Zoom enables users to:
- Host and attend meetings with up to 50 users
- Share large meetings with 100, 200, and 500 seats
- Share or host webinars with 1,000 seats
In addition to Zoom, Skype for Business is a web conferencing tool available for administrative use.
Zoom will be available via three different launch methods: a web-based interface through uiowa.zoom.us; a local client that can launch and join meetings; and a new integration within ICON. For instructions on how to use the Zoom ICON integration please visit https://its.uiowa.edu/support/article/108556
This application is available for use by all faculty, staff, and students and enables users to host their own meetings.
Students can also now use Zoom for instructional group work and meetings.
