Last spring, a Graduate Student Teaching Committee met in response to a UI Strategic Plan Implementation Team request for information about professional development of teaching assistants. The committee met three times and produced a report that describes the many opportunities currently available to help prepare TAs and post-doctoral researchers for their roles as teachers. In addition, the group generated ideas to enhance that professional development and to expand campus awareness of those opportunities.

The full report, including the list of committee members, is available on the Center for Teaching web site.  A follow-up meeting facilitated by Graduate College Dean John Keller developed a plan to gather the perspectives of graduate students and DEOs regarding current and possible future teaching development opportunities for TAs and post-doctoral researchers.
