When implementing new technologies, have you ever wished for a student’s perspective? The Student Instructional Technology Assistants (SITA) program consists of select graduate and undergraduate students who work with instructors to enhance teaching and learning through purposeful integration of various instructional technologies.
SITAs provide technology consultations for Top Hat, UICapture, Pressbooks, and more. They can check your ICON site and can even assist you with technology projects. Book an appointment today at tinyurl.com/bookasita.
This fall, the program welcomed four new SITAs, and we also have one returning SITA.

I've been a SITA for three months. What I genuinely enjoy about this role is the opportunity to assist and empower fellow students and faculty in navigating the intricacies of ICON and related platforms. Helping people find solutions and witnessing their "aha" moments is what makes being a SITA so fulfilling. It's a privilege to be a part of this supportive community, and I look forward to continuing to learn and grow in this role.

I’m currently a second-year student studying finance and economics. I’m originally from Dubuque. If I’m not working or doing schoolwork, I’m typically solving a Sudoku or working out at the campus recreation center. It’s extremely fulfilling to see instructors working to make their ICON sites better and to be able to help them achieve their specific goals.

I am in my fourth year at the University of Iowa, majoring in business analytics and information systems. Through my coursework, I have developed a passion for leveraging data and technology to develop impactful business insights.
My experience as a SITA over the past two academic years has been incredibly rewarding. It has given me the opportunity to explore various technologies and assist instructors in becoming more comfortable with using technology in the classroom. This role has allowed me to work with instructors across various departments and colleges at the university. Finally, I have really enjoyed working on different projects within the SITA team, including one where I was able to explore different AI tools and how they can be used in education.
