Associate Professor of Anthropology Matt Hill

For Associate Professor of Anthropology Matt Hill, the Learning Design Collaboratory was an opportunity to transform his teaching on multiple levels.

“I worked with a fabulous team who provided invaluable advice and assistance on how to leverage teaching technologies.” Hill says. “For example, I learned how redesigning my ICON page and incorporating student response systems (clickers) could improve communication with my students, clarify learning objectives, and provide me with immediate assessment of student understanding of the course information.”

While each Collaboratory experience contains the common thread of course design, the strategies and teaching perspectives that instructors take with them often vary.

“The Collaboratory made me think more deeply about who my students are, and how even modest changes in my teaching strategy can improve student outcomes,” Hill says.

Join us on Thursday, September 13, from 2:30-3:30 in UCC 2840, as Professor Hill discusses the team-based approach to course development he experienced as a participant in the Collaboratory and learn how this initiative supports new and exciting ways for instructors to think about their courses.
