Andrew Forbes, Ph.D., assistant professor of biology

Use a class blog to encourage intellectual risk-taking and authentic learning.

In this bonus video that accompanies his previous video, Blogging Science in the University Classroom, Andrew Forbes, Assistant Professor of Biology, not only demonstrates his students' enthusiastic response to his class blog, but also how he organizes course evaluations as a tool for reflecting on his teaching.

I try to keep my evaluations in these binders so I can make comments for myself about them.

“Discussion and interaction with fellow students on the blog is a part of the course I like the best.”

“Working in groups and being able to interact with others in the blog is,” again, “another part of the course I like the best.”

They're just writing, “The blog!”. [laughter]
