This is a day-long introduction to being a teaching assistant at the University of Iowa. Participants will learn about campus resources available to help students succeed and hear from professors who will share their teaching stories and tips. Experienced TAs will also lead sessions practicing and modeling effective teaching practices and troubleshooting techniques, and participants will reflect on how teaching fits into their individual professional development plans.
This event is for any graduate student at UI – this is geared towards people who will either be TAs for the first time in the 2016-2017 academic year or people who do not get to teach, but would like to learn more about effective teaching practices.
Individuals with disabilities are encouraged to attend all University of Iowa-sponsored events. If you are a person with a disability who requires a reasonable accommodation in order to participate in this program, please contact the Center for Teaching in advance at 319-335-6048.
